The Mediterranean diet is based on proteins and nutrition derived from plants. This diet plans constitutes low fat and high energy food intake. Thus it is not a low carb weight loss diet.
Bread is not avoided in this diet and pita bread is used. The Mediterranean diet plan advocates eating of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, pasta and rice. All foods to be taken are prepared in olive oil.
Low Fat milk products are also allowed but in moderate quantities. This plan just limits your food intake to make it moderate, the food is prepared in traditional Mediterranean style and thus its tasty. This diet plans makes you habitual of keeping your fat intake low and encourages you to take proteins from plants.
