Low Sodium Diet

It is important to go on a low sodium diet if you are facing high blood pressure problem. Sodium intake should be very moderate for everyone though and if it is kept low it is better as we eat a lot of salt and it causes high sodium release in our system.

Sodium is a vital mineral in our body as it has a role to play in our metabolism and other physiological processes. A lot of sodium intake increases the risks involved in having high blood pressure disease, people get prone to this condition with age and weight gain.Most people have a habit of adding additional salt or seasoning to food, which must be stopped immediately, it is change of taste so it will take time for you to adjust to that.

Daily salt that we eat comprises of 40% sodium content. Fast food has a lot of risk as they are high sodium diet types.

Avoid eating chips, crackers, nuts etc that have salt coatings. One must restore to low sodium diet and such diet plan consists of fiber rich food intake such as oranges.

You can also eat salt less bread, toast, jelly, a cup of cereal with skimmed milk, and coffee.

A Sample low sodium lunch would comprise of salt less and dressing less salad on wheat toast with lettuce, skimmed milk and fruits. As snacks you can have unsalted crackers.
