Most Effective Abs Workout
By Total Diet • Category: ExerciseAbs exercises are important for everyone, not just the ones who want to lose weight. These exercises not just aid in reducing spot fat from the belly, but also let you keep strong abs which are important for keeping your body healthy and protecting your spine.
The Bicycle exercise is the best way to target the rectus abdominis (i.e., the ’six pack’) and the obliques (the waist). Follow following steps to do this perfectly:
- Lie face up on the floor and lace your fingers behind your head.
- Bring the knees in towards the chest and lift the shoulder blades off the ground without pulling on the neck.
- Straight the left leg out to about a 45-degree angle while simultaneously turning the upper body to the right, bringing the left elbow towards the right knee.
- Switch sides, bringing the right elbow towards the left knee.
- Continue alternating sides in a ‘pedaling’ motion for 12-16 times.
Tips and Techniques
- Inhale and Exhale as you feel most comfortable. Just breathe in this ab exercise.
- Pull your belly button into your spine
- If you feel you need some lower back support, place your hands in the small of your lower back.
- You should feel this ab exercise in your lower abs.
- It is extremely important to do this exercise slow and controlled. Many people move through it faster than the speed of light. If you want results, go slow and controlled.
- Only take the right leg up, down, and back in. The left leg stays bent in a 90 degree position. Then do your left leg. Take it up, down, and back in as your right leg stays in place.
